Dr. Donna Roberts

Dr. Roberts attended Clemson University and received a BS in Computer Engineer followed by an MS in Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  Following graduate school, she went to work in Washington, DC for Lockheed Engineering and Sciences Company where she provided program management support to the NASA Life Sciences Division at NASA Headquarters.  She supported NASA research programs focused on understanding how to keep astronauts safe and healthy during space missions. She ultimately decided to leave NASA to attend medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).  She then completed a residency in Radiology, also at MUSC followed by a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of California, San Francisco. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Radiology and Radiological Science at MUSC.  In addition to clinical work, she conducts industry sponsored clinical trials and NASA funded studies investigating how spaceflight alters the human brain during long stays in microgravity.
